I’ve never seen Annesdale Mansion look anything other than absolutely lovely. I won’t lie though, Fall is my absolute favorite. John and I were SO happy when Kristen and Jason requested their engagement photos be done there.
Let me back up a bit to when I first chatted with Kristen. When she reached out about us potentially photographing her wedding, I wanted to respond and be like “Hi, I’m Kelly, let’s be best friends, plz.” Don’t worry, I refrained from being a basic chick, BUT, that’s essentially how I still feel about sweet Kristen. We sent what felt like 1,000 emails, so on the day of her engagement photos, I actually felt like I already knew her.
If you’ve read any of our other blogs, you know we like to dive into our couple’s story. I absolutely loved getting to know Kristen and Jason and hear all about their relationship from each of their perspectives.
Would you believe me if I told you Kristen and Jason have Mark Zuckerberg to thank for their relationship?! Hahah, those are Kristen’s exact words. Here’s what she had to say when I asked her how they first met:
“Jason and I met Easter weekend of 2013 during a night out at Silly Goose in downtown Memphis. We were both sober and babysitting friends who had already had too much of grandpa’s cough syrup. Jason was across the bar when I spotted him and mentioned to a girl friend that he was fine as wine. Next thing I know, my girl friend went over to talk to him and brought him back over and introduced us to each other. Conversation was had and numbers were exchanged, but at this point it was already late in the evening/morning and we parted ways. A couple of days later, Jason texted me asking to take me on a date. I may or may not have followed through – the truth is questionable – as I was hesitant with the male species at that time. It wasn’t until about a month later that I spotted Jason across the way while out downtown at the Wine Races. Of course his number was never saved in my phone (whoopsie daisy), so, I did what any former FBI agent would do and I found him on Facebook that evening and sent him a DM. Thank HEAVENS for social media (specific shoutout to my main man Mark Zuckerberg). Jason relentlessly tried again and asked to finally take me out on that date which we went on that Thursday night.”
I love both Kristen and Jason’s sense of humor. When John and I photographed their engagement session, it honestly felt like we were just hanging out with our old friends. We’re so lucky that our couples are so personable with us. These two compliment each other so well, and make the cutest couple. I loved what Jason said when I asked what his favorite thing about Kristen was (especially the last part:)
“I’ve always admired Kristen’s ability to care unconditionally about people and things. Whenever I call our cats “It” or “them”, I’m always corrected about how much they mean to her, and by proxy to us. She wears her heart on her sleeve, which is something I admire and absolutely love about her. When she commits to people and to things, it’s always 100% commitment. Whether is friendships or laundry, she never takes shortcuts. And since I am wholly unorganized, I’m constantly learning (and testing her patience). She also always knows exactly what she wants, and does not compromise with a lesser imitation. I love watching her get excited about the Christmas season, and about our cats. You can tell by the way she treats her patients and others how much heart she puts into people what a great friend and mother she would be. And I love how she giggles.”
These two amazing people are tying the knot THIS weekend at Annesdale Mansion, and we are SO excited to be a part of it. Kristen and Jason, we adore you and you’re stuck with us even after this weekend!
