What do you do when Kevin Barre says to you “When I get engaged, we’re hiring you to shoot the wedding.”
A. Choke on the coffee you were drinking when you read the message
B. Hide under a table
C. Dry heave to the point where you feel fainting is in your near future
D. All of the above.
If you answered “D” you are correct.
Back in January of 2011, I went to a bridal show here in Memphis. I saw Kevin Barre for the first time. I saw an image he had captured of a bride floating in water in her wedding dress wearing converse. After PLEADING with him, (and my mom calling 2 or 3 different times) he told me “I am still booked that day.” Four years later the man that was booked on my wedding day, asked ME to capture his. MIND.BLOWN.
Besides being wildly talented, Kevin is also one of the luckiest dudes I know, because he gets to marry this firecracker of a woman. Nikki is one of my very best friends, and John and I consider ourselves BLESSED to call the Barre’s friends, and mentors.
Nikki is everyone’s favorite. She’s a real good time Sally, and her laugh is contagious. She will light up a room before she even enters. I feel certain that I’ll never meet another Nikki for the rest of my life, but that’s ok because I have her. There isn’t much Kevin cannot do. Besides being a bad ass wedding photographer, he is also a dad to two (from what I hear) awesome kids that will probably grow up to run this country. We’ll all be working for them one day.
John and I feel very fortunate that we are able to be on this adventure with you both. We look up to you guys even more than you can imagine (even if we are taller than you both.)
Love you guys!
