I fall in love with all of the couples that hire me to document the most special day of their lives. I’m a sucker for romance, stories of how couples first met, note passing, and reminiscing on the good ‘ole days. I’d love to think that I would find a story more precious than Krissa and Nick’s but I’m afraid they’ve got us all beat!
When Krissa called me about shooting her wedding, she inquired about the only Saturday I had available in April. Everything just fell into place for these love birds, and I honestly believe God’s perfect timing had A LOT to do with it. I went to middle school and high school with both Krissa and Nick, so I knew of them, but they were 1 and 2 years ahead of me, so I didn’t “know” them personally, but as John and I drove away from their wedding we both looked at each other and said “I wish we’d known them sooner.” They are some of the coolest, most down to earth, fun people I’ve ever been around.
When I think of Krissa, I think of Nick, as in my brain doesn’t just picture one without the other, and I truly believe that is how it’s supposed to be. Nick and Krissa have been together for almost 7 years, and their wedding felt like a high school reunion of supportive friends and family who have been patiently and eagerly waiting for them to officially tie the knot. Even Krissa’s Matron of Honor, Roxana said during her speech “Nick, I can’t tell you anything about Krissa that you don’t know because we lived all of our memories together.” (I ALMOST cried 100 times throughout the day.) Wanna know the BEST part about these love birds? THEY GREW UP RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO EACH OTHER!!!! Like literally RIGHT next door, you could throw a rock from Krissa’s house and it would hit Nick’s. Both Krissa and Nick’s parents still live next door to each other. I can just imagine all of the late night walks and phone calls Krissa and Nick made to each other, it made the day ALL the more sweeter. It only made since for Nick and Krissa to get married where it ALL began, their backyard!
Nick is an Naval Aviator and Krissa is an RN. The new Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers will be residing in sunny Florida, lucky them!
Krissa and Nick’s wedding honestly made me realize being born and raised in the South is a privilege. All of the cowgirl boots, horseshoes, white picket fences, hay bales, country music, and ‘hey-yall’s’, truly are charming and I saw/heard ALL of those at K&N’s wedding.
A quick thank you to John Ginn for assisting me the entire day, and for tons of amazing images. (Which you will see several of below.)
Get ready for a sunny, tear filled, southern good time!
Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers!
Anne Snyder - This. Post. Made. Me. Cry. Congrats on another amazing shoot, Kelly! You’re amazing, and I am loving ALL of these images!
Lyn Rodgers - Kelly, it was so great to see you again! I was so thrilled your were their photographer. You truly captured Nick and Krissa’s love on film. I think everyone at the wedding felt the same joy on their day, and I know there were very few, if any, dry eyes. I have had the pleasure of watching the two of them grow up together, beginning with a deep friendship that grew into the kind of love I wish everyone could experience once in their lifetime.
As the song goes…”what a wonderful world…” this would be if we all loved this dearly. Thank you for the beautiful photos and I look forward to seeing the rest of them…Lyn
Veronica McConnell - OMG I love the paper from the ring shot, could you ask the bride where she got it?
