Faye and Josh’s wedding definitely goes down as one of our very favorites.

Why? Well, let’s start with Faye herself. She sought us out on her own all the way from New York City. She recently moved to Memphis (and by recently, I should mention her wedding was last October, as in, 2015…) and I honestly believe she brought a dash of New York magic with her. John and I love following Faye and Josh’s live on social media. A few things you would quickly gather from glancing at Faye’s instagrams: (that we adore) Faye and Josh love noodles, because duh. Their wedding hashtag was #noodlenuptials which so perfectly suits them. Josh is a periodontist, which is funny because I only learned what type of dentist that was just a year or so before meeting him. They work extremely hard and basically make the impossible, possible. If you see someone with a great smile, you can thank Josh. He may have had something to do with it. Be sure to take a look at his groom’s cake. It’s definitely one of our favorites. Faye and Josh’s relationship is so natural, so real. They love simple things like date nights, going to concerts together, and hanging out with their precious dog, Penelope.

Faye and Josh’s wedding was the most perfect October day. First of all, their venue……. As if I even need to say anything about the perfect Annesdale Mansion. It’s a photographer’s dream. Such charm, such history, and gorgeous natural light, yes please. Faye and Josh made the very wise decision to hire Amy Miller to direct and coordinate their sweet day. Amy is a dream. She bends over backwards for her couples and is so polite and attentive. We love every time we get to work with her. Holliday Flowers built the most gorgeous birchwood chuppah that stole everyone’s heart. Faye and Josh hired CFY Catering who never ever disappoint!

Before I say too much more (because we all know I’m a professional at that) I will let you get to the goodies:

Faye and Josh, thank you so much for letting us celebrate with you, for letting us capture such sweet memories for you, and for being such a wonderful couple that we adore!

We met sweet Becca at Morgan and Paxton’s wedding (which I’ve yet to blog, I’ll get right on that) this past April. Out of all of the bridesmaids, she stuck out! She was obviously gorgeous, helpful, cooperative, and attentive (which can make or break a photographer’s day, so thanks Becca!)

We became friends on Facebook, and later I saw she got engaged. I won’t lie, John and I were secretly hoping she’d ask us, but we never assume. When we got an email from her inquiring about potentially using us, we were ecstatic.

Becca and her sister came to our home office to discuss Becca and Connor’s big day that’s happening this coming September at the lovely Cedar Hall. We are thrilled they are allowing us to document it for them. Becca told us all about how much Connor *LOVES* to be photographed and to prepare ourselves for his enthusiasm. Haha.

Becca and Connor kept saying how they typically don’t take many photos, and that they could potentially be awkward, BUT I will just say, that this session by far is one of our very favorites to date. It’s funny, those that are so blunt about not being good in front of the camera honestly end up being some of the most photogenic! These guys were beyond natural together, even in front of the intimidating camera.

Becca and Connor LOVE sports. Like, they love sports like I love chips. Connor is actually an intern for the Memphis Grizzlies, which suits him so well. Becca and Connor requested we end their session at Beale Street Landing so they could show off their gorgeous city in some of their favorite jerseys!

Becca and Connor, thanks SO much for letting us capture such fun memories for you! We cannot WAIT for September!

Enjoy!

There are so many wonderful things I want to say about Heather and Matt and their specifically unique wedding at Spring Creek Ranch.

Initially, Heather and I spoke a few times on the phone before she hired us. I knew instantly we would be a good fit. She told me how she loved San Francisco AND that she and Matt both did improv in Chicago. John and I thought to ourselves “could they BE any cooler?” (Totally said in a Chandler Bing voice.)

Not only did this wedding include a rainbow parachute tent, it also included Hobbit’s feet, Pokemon centerpieces, Lord of the Ring’s invitations, rainbow wildflower bouquets, (compliments of Ashlye McCormick) the cutest Frodo ring bearer, AND thrifted roller-skates. Yes, you heard that all correctly.

As John and I sit here to write this blog post, we both shrugged our shoulders and said “no words will do this wedding justice” so we’ll just let the images speak for themselves. In case you’re a wordsmith like me, and want to know ALL of the ends and outs of this creative day, you MUST check out Heather and Matt’s wedding feature on Black Sheep Bride! (Seriously, read ALL about how eco-friendly/fair trade this wedding was, it will blow your mind!) Heather and Matt, THANK YOU from the bottom of our Frodo loving hearts for allowing us to be there with you on such a special day!

This wedding is one for the books!

Kara + David are complete dolls. I know I say that often, but that doesn’t discredit how precious these babes are.

(I’ll just pretend I didn’t shoot these back in June. Better late than never, right?)

Kara contacted me about her wedding when John and I were still living in San Francisco. I assured her I’d be back in Memphis long before then, and she told me she was considering October 22nd as a potential wedding date. That also happens to be John and my anniversary, so right away I felt like it was meant to be.

There aren’t enough letters in any alphabet in the world for me to describe how amazing it would be for us to be able to shoot on our anniversary. When Kara confirmed the date and hired us, we jumped for joy.

Kara and David wanted to do some of their engagement photos at The Junior League, where they actually got married just a few weeks ago. We then headed down to the river to end their session. This was actually the first time we’d ever met Kara and David in person. They were just as charming as we imagined, but extremely much taller than we thought. I’m talking supermodel height. I am a pretty average height, on a good day, I’m 5’7. John is also a giant– 6’2, but he was NO match for David who soared above him. More like, Goliath, huh? (As I get older, my jokes get more corny, but that’s funny right there, you know it.)

Kara and David both had the best outfit choices, and Kara’s makeup was stunning thanks to the very talented Kasey Acuff. There is a reason everyone refers to her as “Queen Kasey.” It’s a super good idea to have her do your makeup for your engagement photos so you can figure out what photographs well, and who doesn’t just love feeling fancy when you’re being photographed.

Kara and David, thank you for being so wonderful and allowing us to be a part of the most special time in your lives! We cannot wait to share your wedding!

Melanie + Colin are the epitome of timeless. Their wedding attire, floral arrangements, accessories, invitation suite, and reception details almost stopped my rapid beating photographer’s heart.

Melanie got ready at her parent’s lovely home in Germantown, Tennessee. We spent the morning documenting her details as Kasey Acuff did Melanie’s makeup- which lasted the entire evening, even after dancing the night away.

We were lucky enough to be able to photograph beautifully hand watercolored invitations from Jenn Gietzen. We’re still swooning over those.

Melanie and Colin were married at Germantown United Methodist under a cascading arrangement by the talented Holliday Flowers. They had their reception at Ridgeway Country Club.

Melanie and Colin made the smart decision to see each other before their ceremony, which enabled them to have a few private moments together before the ceremony. This also allowed them to finish with formal photos almost immediately after the ceremony which enabled them to get to their reception super quickly. They were greeted by the talented Holly Hardin, of The Hardin House and joined right in on the party.

The Flour Garden provided the most beautiful and creative cakes we’ve ever seen. The bride’s cake was adorned with florals and real figs that photographed beautifully, and the groom’s cake was made to look exactly like a Yeti cooler. Melanie and Colin’s guests were flipping out over its realistic qualities, so much so, someone tried to open it. We’ve never been more entertained by a band at a reception than when we watched Az IzZ from Atlanta. They performed their hearts out and had Melanie and Colin’s wedding guests on their feet until the pom pom exit.

One of our favorite moments from Melanie and Colin’s special day was their first look. They both had stars in their eyes and tears on their cheeks. They powered through the August heat and got some of the most beautiful portraits we’ve ever seen.

Melanie and Colin, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to be a part of your most special day! We adore you both!

Enjoy!
