You may remember Courtney and Will from another extremely colorful session: https://kellyginnphotography.com/courtneywill-a-colorful-powdered-dust-session/

Yes, I had the pleasure of shooting with this fun family again. You can’t keep the Kassners away from a fun colorful spot, and there are  LOTS of those in midtown. We met Courtney and Will around 7:30 on a Saturday morning. The weather was still a little cool, and the sun kept hiding behind clouds, but luckily both Courtney and Will wore bright enough clothes (and that beautiful bright mural) that we didn’t need it anyways.

Midtown Memphis really is such a great place. I’m already planning another engagement session there, everyone loves the new mural, I was thrilled when Courtney said that’s where they’d like to have their 3 year anniversary. Not only are Courtney and Will some of the greatest people you’ll ever meet, they also just announced that they are going to be parents! Baby K will be making his/her arrival later this year. Baby K, I have news for you, if you are half as artistic and beautiful as your mom, and half as knowledgable and funny as your dad, you are going to be one awesome kid, and John and I cannot wait to meet you!

I think it was SUPER important that Courtney and Will had their last anniversary documented before their family grows. (PS. You can barely tell Courtney is even pregnant, other than that natural happy glow she has, she’s a tiny thing isn’t she?) I feel honored to be documenting Courtney’s pregnancy with maternity photos later on this year. Baby K is already so loved by so many.

After we finished their session, Courtney and Will were nice enough to treat John and I to breakfast at the famous Arcade in downtown Memphis. It was delish, and I definitely recommend it to ALL.

C&W/baby K, I hope you enjoy these. Happy 3 year anniversary!

I love Courtney’s foot tattoo, she’s a ‘doodler’ like me

We don’t normally see it from this angle, but I love that his ring is in focus

I loved this fun wall

This Midtown is Memphis marquee light is amazing, I can’t wait to see it at night

Will is ALWAYS making Courtney laugh

Will has been needing a new profile pic, here ya go!

Isn’t she the cutest?

Congrats on all of the wonderful things that are happing in both of your lives! May God continue to bless you!

Remember Loye & Brian? How could you not, they are a stunning couple. In case your forgot https://kellyginnphotography.com/loyebrian-a-tennessee-ballroom-wedding/

In lieu of Loye’s bridal session she purchased, she decided that more pictures of her and Brian would be a better idea. I’m SO glad she decided to do this day after session, because they turned out great!  What girl doesn’t want to put their wedding dress BACK on and parade around in front of the camera?! Although some of these images look bright and warm, they are deceiving because it was 36 degrees outside, overcast (for the most part) and windy.

Doesn’t Loye look fabulous in her dress? Let me let you in on a secret. Loye is wearing her JEANS under her dress. She’s so fit and slim, her dress just zipped RIGHT up with her jeans on under, which was great because it was BRUTAL out there. Loye and Brian didn’t let that bother them, they were both still so happy and it shows.

Loye & Brian, you’ve been married for almost two months now. My how time flies.

ENJOY!

I loved this.

This is such a whimsical portrait. Loye looks completely swept away

A little behind the scenes action. That’s Loye’s cute scarf keeping Brian’s ears warm!

I love that Loye’s earrings are in focus, like a little hidden treasure

The light decided to come out, I, naturally rushed them over to a golden spot.

so sweet!

love the way he kept looking at her!

would you look at those eyes?

It just wouldn’t be complete without a classic jump pose! You guys are the best!

As John and I celebrated our 6th Christmas together, (2nd married Christmas) we had LOTS to be thankful for. My whole family was in town: My mom and dad who live here, my little BIG brother Brent, who also lives here, and my sister Jennifer, and brother-in-law Walter, who came in from Durham, NC.

Traditionally we wake up pretty early and rush through our presents because my dad usually has to go to work later in the day. Not this year, my dad actually worked until about 2pm, so we eagerly waited like kindergarteners. Our wide eyed gazes and drooling mouths all waited on the edge of our seats, once my dad came home we were ready to go.

Here’s a little peek of Christmas at the Smith home.

This is my stocking, yes both. The Vera Bradley one is FULL of chap-stick only, my addiction. The red stocking was specially made for my brother, sister and I. My mom fills ALL of our stockings to the top, it’s ALWAYS my favorite part.

Tebow’s favorite day

Nolah, Jennifer and Walter’s dog.

Nolah and Jennifer.

My little BIG brother, Brent

She makes this face…. a lot.

This is always one of my favorite things to watch. Nolah loves to get inside her stocking to open her presents

the aftermath

John LOVED all of his gifts

Tebow didn’t get anything for Christmas……..

It’s safe to say, we LOVE our dog!

my present to my mom and dad! They loved it!

Christmas 2012, Smith, Ginn, and Whitworth style… CHECK!

When Caitlyn and Zach contacted me about shooting their wedding, I was giddy. I didn’t know either of them, but through all of the many emails/ text I felt like I did. When Caitlyn mentioned Herb Parsons Lake as a location for her engagements, I was thrilled for two reasons:

1. because I had never even heard of it, and I totally geek out over new locations

2. because Caitlyn had informed me earlier that this is where Zach proposed to her a few short months ago (you know how I am about revisiting special places)

We decided on an early morning session, I’m talking like 7am because we wanted the etherial fog with the soft morning light. However, when we arrived it was still dark. Ha, we tried to be so prepared and it was just a little too dark for our taste. Luckily we had time to talk to Caitlyn and Zach, and really got to know them. I had seen one picture of Caitlyn and Zach near a tree, and he was down on one knee so I assumed the tree was close by, little did I know it wasn’t BUT it was TOTALLY worth it. We got to hear the entire proposal story as we walked to ‘the tree’. I’m all about a good story, so I was all ears. After we visited their sweet spot, we decided to head out on the lake, which I loved. I was a little nervous because my wobbly self was actually in the boat with them, but they were great and extremely comfortable with me as they snuggled close in the tiny little boat. Caitlyn, like me has a love for little tiny vintage treasures. I LOVED that about her. Caitlyn, and her sister Jessica are quite the little artists. They both make some pretty sweet stuff, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Zach was so sweet to Caitlyn the entire time. He told us about his large family that lives in Florida, where he’s from. John and I kept calling him Ted Mosby, because he was SO nice and hilarious. Caitlyn kept giggling at his jokes, they were so natural together and I CANNOT wait to document their big day in May.

Caitlyn and Zach, we hope you enjoy these!

I love the movement in the picture, she giggled the entire time.

How sweet is it that Zach carved “will you marry me” in the tree. That’s a total Ted Mosby move, I love it.

Tears.

such beautiful subjects.

quite possibly my favorite

you don’t even understand how excited I was that Caitlyn too, has a love for vintage lanterns!

before we were finished I asked C&Z if I got everything they were wanting, Caitlyn said ‘yes!’ and Zach said ‘I can think of one’, swooped her right off of her feet before she even had time to think! I LOVE that.

C&Z I cannot WAIT to capture all of your wonderful memories in May, congrats you two!

I’ve been SO eager to post Loye and Brian’s ballroom wedding. As I wrap up my degree in art, I’ve become seriously attached to these photos. Every free second I got I would get in a my hypothetical corner and edit, edit, edit- I think about them all the time, they even haunt me a little (in a beautiful way) in my sleep. Needless to say, the time has come to share!

I met Loye four years ago on bid day at the University of Memphis. She and one of her maid of honors, Claire, were immediately everyone’s favorite, with good reason. They’re both all kinds of amazing. Little did I know what good friends we would become. When Loye contacted me about shooting her wedding, I had no words, only smiles. I remember the first time I saw a photograph of Loye and Brian. I hadn’t met him, but I specifically remember thinking, “Look how happy Loye looks!” Well Brian must have been doing something right, because Loye was all smiles, and shined with glitter and gleam the entire day.

The venue that Loye and Brian chose was perfect for their urban style. The Balinese Ballroom on North Main had so many great features: twinkly lights, bare brick walls, lots (and I mean LOTS) of great light, I couldn’t have asked for a better place!

Something I really admired, and have to mention is Loye and Brian’s relationship, not only with each other, but also with the Lord. Loye and Brian have both done mission work, and our extremely selfless. Their wedding ceremony was so sweet and centered on the Lord, everyone in the room could feel the passion. They are definitely people John and I strive to be like, and I know that’s a huge reason why Loye & Brian are so well liked by ALL people. You will only hear good things when either of their names are mentioned. I feel blessed to call them friends.

And I need to give recognition to Loye and Brian’s bridal party. Talk about a complete package, from the lovely bridesmaids to the handsome, hilarious groomsmen, it’s safe to say I’ve yet to laugh that hard at a wedding. John and I both were bent over, a good percentage of the time. From the Anthropologie bridesmaid’s dresses, to the vintage bow ties, this bridal party was trendy, classic, charming, and down right good looking, which made our job so easy!

Without further adieu- Mr. & Mrs. Ellsworth, Enjoy!

Loye told me her good friend Ali made this for her, using quotes and verses that both Loye and Brian love. Ali, I will be contacting you about this, because it is amazing!

Shout out to Gretchen Campbell for doing some AMAZING hair

&&& then there was a dance party between the bride, bridesmaids, and MOB. The wobble was necessary.

Loye let each of her bridesmaids pick out their own necklace to show off their individual styles. I loved this idea, and they ALL had such nice ones!

Loye’s bridesmaids gave THE best reaction to seeing her in her dress for the first time.

Loye, you were the definition of bridal bliss. Stunning

This was truly precious. Brian met Loye halfway down the aisle to symbolize Christ coming back for his bride. -tears

So glad I caught this shot, sweet Brian was wiping one of Loye’s tears as she read her vows.

Loye and Brian, we were thrilled to capture these happy moments!
