Remember Katy and Blake’s spring Annesdale Mansion engagement session?

Annesdale is stunning at all times, but if you know me, you know I love the Fall season the most. There is just something magical about the Fall months, and I love every second of it. Katy and Blake had the most amazing weather for their September wedding at Annesdale Mansion. Their florals from Paula DeClerk were absolutely stunning and honestly some of the most beautiful arrangements we have ever seen. We enjoyed working alongside Jimmy and Toni Woodard of VM Studios at Katy and Blake’s wedding. As Toni said “I don’t know if there was a single flower left in Memphis after this wedding.” I feel confident when I say I heard every single guest comment on the florals at least once. (Don’t worry, you’ll see what I mean in the photos down below.)

Since Katy is actually a talented makeup artist, she did her own makeup and she looked absolutely flawless (per usual.) Katy got her dress at Maggie Louise Bridal, and it was designed by Hayley Paige. Out of all of the weddings John and I have shot, I have to say Katy’s dress is definitely one of our most favorite dresses ever. It’s such a popular and flattering dress, we actually had another bride wear the same dress a month later. Matt Gossett did the gorgeous bridesmaid’s makeup, who all wore a deep blush bridesmaid’s dress. They looked incredible paired next to the groomsmen who wore navy.

Mona Dunlap was Katy and Blake’s wedding planner, who kept the day running smoothly. Will Tucker, Katy’s brother, was the talented entertainment for the evening which was an absolute delight to witness. It was so sweet seeing Will play for his sister’s wedding. If I had to find one word to describe Katy and Blake’s wedding, it would be “dreamy.” and even that is an understatement.

Katy and Blake decided to do a first look, which enabled them to actually spend the day together. Katy and Blake have a son named Ezra, who may have been just the cutest part of their whole day. It was so amazing seeing the Tucker and Warren family become one, and we’re so thankful we got to be a part of it.

You guys enjoy!

Lexington, Tennessee holds a special place in both Brooklyn and Keenan’s hearts. Grab your tissues, you’re in for QUITE the story.

Though these two babes have been officially a couple for 4.5 years, their story goes back to KINDERGARTEN. You heard that correctly, Kindergarten! Brooklyn and Keenan were in the same Kindergarten class at Pin Oak Elementary. When Brooklyn asked if we could do a portion of their engagement session back at their old stomping grounds, we were GIDDY. The picture below is the exact kindergarten classroom they met in. Keenan actually asked Brooklyn to marry him when he was five under a tree you’ll see pictured in this post. While Brooklyn said “no” to Keenan’s first proposal, she said “YAAAASSSSSSSS” the second time he asked. We’re SO dang glad she did because now we get to shoot their wedding NEXT weekend at Twin Oaks in Humboldt, Tennessee.

We always love hearing all about the proposal, and Brooklyn and Keenan’s was too sweet not to share. As told by Brooklyn:

“…The next day was the day of my actual “birthday party” with my family to celebrate all of the October birthdays. I got up and went to church and told Keenan I would see him at my sister’s later. When we got to my sister’s house, my mom told me to bring a tray of food around the back. I was confused as to why I couldn’t go through the house with her, but then that’s when I saw it all. I saw the love of my life, Keenan, standing in my sister’s backyard smiling at me and my sweet family off to the side. I froze and started crying on the spot. Keenan had to walk down to get me because I couldn’t make it up to him by myself. We talked for about a minute or two and he then got down on one knee and I lost it. Also at some point I think I blacked out. For about a month, my mom, dad, sister, and his mom all knew what was about to happen and no one gave anything away. It was truly a moment I will never forget.”

These guys are simply precious, and we feel SO lucky they chose us to capture this special time in their lives. This sweet couple invited us over for dinner after their engagement session. Brooklyn’s mom, Mrs. Jennifer, was so kind to cook for John and I before we headed back to Memphis. It’s safe to say we love the Parker (and future Greear) families. Brooklyn’s sister is the talented Krisy Thomas of Southern Sparkle Weddings and Events, and we’re so looking forward to working with them next weekend.

You guys enjoy!

As if the Memphis Botanic Gardens isn’t already dreamy enough, just add Payton and Ryan (and lets not forget Lily!)

John and I actually met Payton almost three years ago when we photographed her brother’s wedding. Little did we know, three years later we would have the amazing opportunity to spend time with Payton and her family again. Payton and Ryan are getting married this weekend at Collierville United Methodist and their reception will be held at Windyke Country Club. We’re so looking forward to their special day, and cannot wait to work alongside some amazing vendors such as: Kasey Acuff, Emily Cohen, Maggie Louise, and The Soul Shockers (just to name a few.)

Payton and Ryan really wanted spring engagement photos and John and I knew the trees at Memphis Botanic would be in full bloom. These blossoms were out of this world and definitely some of our most favorite Spring engagement photos. We were lucky enough to meet Lily, Payton’s adorable and playful Golden Retriever. We love that so many of our couples want their fur babies included in their engagement photos.

We love getting to know our couple’s stories, how they met, all about their first date, the proposal, etc. When speaking with Payton and Ryan about their relationship, one part in particular really stood out to us.

Payton: “For the last two years, for many different occasions throughout dating, starting with our first Christmas together, we would write poems to each other. Sometimes the poems were congratulatory, or in the spirit of a holiday or birthday. Sometimes they were just to cheer each other up after an arduous week, as a unique way to express our feelings towards one another. It became a tradition of sorts, so Ryan thought it would only be fitting to write the proposal down in a poem, and then propose by reciting the poem.”

Chivalry is NOT dead, folks. I love that in this tech savvy world, where most couples just send “ILY” texts, Payton and Ryan express their love for one another with pen and paper. I can’t help but think of their grandchildren or great grand children one day reading the lovely words that their grandparents wrote to  one another.

Payton and Ryan, we cannot WAIT for your wedding this weekend!
