Jamie+Spenser-Engaged

Let me paint the scene for you:

Jamie is a nurse, and Spenser is a flight paramedic. So on top of both of them being extremely good looking, (hello, I can’t wait to see their offspring) they are both wildly intelligent, and both clearly have servant’s hearts.

Let’s back up for just a second. John and I went to high school with Jamie. Jamie and I cheered together through high school, and I feel I speak for most when I say Jamie is a true leader. She worked hard, was always focused, and seemed to take on new tasks as if she were wired knowing how to do them. Jamie’s sweet disposition, and her heart of pure gold has to be just a few reasons why anyone who’s anyone adores Jamie.

Although I’ve now only met Spenser twice, I can totally see how perfect he is for Jamie. In fact, John and I believe Jamie has met her match with Spenser. They are both so intelligent, it’s good that they have each other to challenge one another, in a friendly, healthy way of course.

You would think it would be absolutely impossible to be attractive, intelligent, AND hilarious, but this power couple truly has it all. When we arrived to meet up with Jamie and Spenser for their engagement session, Spenser mentioned he had just gotten his front tooth fixed. Me being the absolute teeth obsessed person I am, (I swear, teeth problems are the worst problems to have) I asked Spenser to elaborate. Hilariously, he informed us that things got a little silly at his bachelor party, and he accidentally hit a counter and his front tooth chipped. Luckily, the dentist did an amazing job, and even my obsessive self couldn’t tell.

Jamie and Spenser are getting married at the end of this month, and we cannot wait to be a part of it!

Hailee+Keith-Spring Creek Ranch Engagement

Hailee and Keith, or as we like to refer to as Michael Cera and Miranda Lambert, are pretty freakin’ boss.

To be completely honest, we are so blessed to be able to work with the most amazing individuals in existence. Obviously, Hailee and Keith are no exception. They are adorable, high energy, stylish, and dog lovers. Basically, our soulmates.

These two sweet kids are one HECK of a couple. They both have full time jobs, they are both in school getting their masters, AND planning a wedding at the stunning, Spring Creek Ranch.

We happened to get lucky and scored one of the most gorgeous days I’ve seen so far in 2015. Sweet Hailee and Keith were seriously dressed to impress, with complimenting colors and all.

Hailee loves J.Crew like I love San Francisco. Her J.Crew loving heart beamed throughout the entire session. These two are so genuine which made working with them so easy and natural.

We absolutely cannot wait for your big day this coming September, Hailee and Keith! You guys make us so happy!

Caitlyn+James-Memphis Botanical Garden Wedding

I know you guys remember the adorable Caitlyn and James.

(SIDE NOTE: I can’t believe it’s February, and I am just now blogging an October wedding. What can I say? Ya girl’s been busy.)

This wedding is so very special to us for so many different reasons. 1. I’ve known Caitlyn and her entire family since I was about a little girl. Caitlyn’s dad works with my dad, and he and his wife Toni are also the powerhouse couple behind VMWeddings Studio, our favorite videographers. Toni and Jimmy (who John and I often accidentally call ‘Timmy’) are like parents to us. They are so helpful, so kind, so generous, and honest to goodness BALLERS at what they do. (I have to brag on them, because they won’t.) We also had the pleasure of shooting Ashley’s (Caitlyn’s sister) wedding at Heartwood Hall this past March. I remember once I spent the night at Ashley and Caitlyn’s house. I was maybe 10 years old, so Caitlyn would have been 7 or so. She asked where my sister “Jennifart” was (Jennifer.) I laughed so hard I cried, and she’s pretty much been my hero ever since. I’ll never forget that. When my dad came and picked me up from their house, I told him what Caitlyn called my sister, he laughed and then pretended it wasn’t funny. Secretly he thought it was genius.

Another reason this wedding was so extremely close to our hearts is because Caitlyn and James said “I do” in the exact location we did, and the same month we did, three years later. I may be bias, but the Memphis Botanical Garden is such an enchanting gem. I cannot get enough. It was wonderful getting to view a ceremony where we tied the knot, on the other side of the camera.

Caitlyn and James are perfect for each other. They love big which is evident for the world to see. James never took his eyes from Caitlyn the entire day. Caitlyn’s mom Toni said; “It has been that way since kindergarten.”

A giant thanks to Lynn Doyle Flowers, Michael Doyle for his coordinating services, and Kasey Acuff for all of the awesome makeup.

Caitlyn and James, thanks so much for allowing us to capture these sweet memories. You guys are so special to us, enjoy!

Kelly+Wes-Engaged

Kelly and Wes are a dynamic duo. I mean that WHOLE heartedly.

I’ve known Kelly for as long as I can remember. We grew up in the same neighborhood, which meant we always went to the same school. Kelly is a year older than me, so we never had any classes together, but you don’t forget a pretty red-head with the same name as you, do ya? Since day one that this little business of ours has been open, Kelly has been SO supportive. She always comments, likes, and shares all of our posts. We’re so thankful for her generous soul. And can I just say “HAIIIIRRRRRRRR.” Kelly’s.Hair. OMG, I think I played with it 50 times, it’s so romantic. And Kelly’s makeup?!?!?? 100% yes! Brides, consider getting your makeup done for your engagement photos, because Kelly was looking FIERCE thanks to my girl Kasey Acuff.

I remember when she started posting pictures of this mysterious guy. I wondered “Who is this guy, and WHEN is he going to propose?!” I was already mindlessly dreaming they would ask US to capture their special day. To our blessing (and surprise) they actually did, after THE CUTEST proposal story I’ve ever heard:

(Also, I know I’m not a guy, but I feel like this proposal should be prefaced with “On behalf of all men out there, good luck one up-ing this epic proposal.”)

Kelly and Wes went to Disney World together (hello magical.) While they were there, Wes decided he was going to propose with a caricature drawing. While Kelly stepped away for a minute, Wes quickly informed the artist of his plan. People kept walking by while Kelly and Wes were posing, and Wes was so afraid that someone would spill the beans or say “congratulations!” Fortunately, his plan worked. When the artist turned the art around to show Kelly and Wes, Kelly was shocked and turned to Wes who was down on one knee. FOR.THE.BOOKS.

Needless to say, Kelly said “YES!”

This engagement session is one of our very favorites. Kelly and Wes are 100% comfortable and natural together, which made our job a breeze. We lucked out and got a warm day in December, which was amazing.

Kelly and Wes, we CANNOT wait for this coming April for your Heartwood Hall wedding!

Amanda+Hunter-Engaged

Amanda and Hunter are two sweet, sweet children.

I knew the moment I got an initial email from Amanda that she was “our type of bride.” She was polite, thorough with her questions, creative, and super timely in corresponding. When she and Hunter came to our house to meet us, Amanda was exactly who I had been imagining. She and I are quite similar in terms of our style, and how we appreciate art. She and Hunter are actually getting married this year at Cedar Hall this coming May. Cedar Hall is one of our very favorite venues. Amanda and Hunter are equally as obsessed with it. As usual, we got a little off topic about all things wedding, and started talking about dogs. Amanda and Hunter have the sweetest little blue eyed puppy named Blu. We’ve actually had the pleasure of meeting Blu in person and he totally stole our hearts.

Amanda and Hunter wanted to do an urban, colorful engagement session. We knew JUST the place. These two dolls absolutely went above and beyond, dressed to the absolute nines. We had a blast walking around midtown and downtown with them. Hunter treats Amanda like the precious gem she is. He was more than willing to do anything Amanda wanted. We adore them both.
