John and I feel so humbled that two creative souls like Sam and Devon chose US to be a part of this joyous time in their lives.

Sam and Devon (who I accidentally called Blake (because’s Sam’s last name is Blake) on IG a while back, still embarrassed) approached us with such eagerness and excitement in their voices.

We knew they had giant welcoming hearts, so we were equally excited to meet with them. We somehow managed to get them to agree to be a part of our KGP 2015 family, and we’re so glad they did!

Sam and Devon are on fire for each other. Their chemistry is absolutely unreal. Some people just fit together, it must have been written long ago. We absolutely loved the attire Sam and Devon chose for their engagement pictures, it suited them so well.

Devon works in the video world. We mentioned once to him how he should seriously consider stepping into the wedding world of videography, with Sam at his side. I mean, seriously, can you even image what good kind of damage these two cuties could do? If you see either of them, bother and nudge them about that until they agree. They are so creative, so motivated, and SO in love, and I don’t care WHAT you say, I believe that you have to believe in love to be able to accurately tell love stories.

Sam is clearly the diamond in the rough. She’s as beautiful as her sweet soul, and I keep referring to her as a “Lana look alike” because I swear she has those same gorgeous doe-eyes as Lana Del Ray. She wears her heart on her sleeve, is passionate about others, and her positive attitude absolutely radiates for all to see.

So yes, they are a dream couple.

Towards the end of their session, Sam and Devon decided to bring their little puggy, Ray along. If you know anything at all about me, you know I’m absolutely obsessed with Pugs, and always have been. I giggled the ENTIRE time we were with him, and then laughed so hard I cried while editing because Ray is the cutest, funniest thing I’ve ever seen. He totally stole the show.

We can’t wait for your wedding next April at Acre Memphis.

You guys enjoy!

urban downtown weddingI should preface this post with a warning:

You’re more than likely going to want Martha and Whitt to be your best friends at the end of this post. Why?

Because they’re some serious cool cats, that’s why.

Martha emailed me a couple of times before we met in person. There for a minute, I didn’t think I was going to get to work with this kick ass couple. They wanted a June wedding, and I already had five weddings in June. I was SO humbled when I received an email from Martha saying “Ok, then WHEN are you open, because we’ll just move our date based on your availability.” I still blush at that mind-blowing concept. How flattering?

Martha and Whitt are two extremely creative souls. Martha wore an altered version of her mother’s wedding dress with a simple flower crown. Watching her mom zip it up was such a special moment.

Whitt works at Whole Foods as the assistant store artist and does all of the super awesome chalk art (talk about a dream job.) John watched him “doodle” one of their reception decorations in about two seconds. Talk about skill.

Martha and Whitt got ready at Whitt’s grandmother’s home in the historic Central Garden’s neighborhood. I fell in love with just about every single thing in her home. We were fortunate to be able to work with Lynn Doyle’s talented team. Let me tell you something, I always ALWAYS love their work, but I have to say, Martha’s flowers (bouquet, bridesmaid’s bouquets, and boutonnières) were hands down some of my favorite I’ve ever seen. (I know everyone agrees.) We were also finally able to work with Philip from Creation Studios. He did an outstanding job working around my spastic self, and was a joy to be around.

Martha and Whitt got married at St. Peter’s Church and partied the night away at the Jack Robinson Art Gallery. The night SCREAMED Martha and Whitt. They did things THEIR way, which is no surprise for anyone that knows them.

Martha and Whitt, John and I are SO thankful that you guys trusted us with documenting your special day. We’re grateful for the friendship we’ve cultivated with you both.

Enough blah blah! Let’s let the pictures do their job!

Enjoy

The Ginns in San Francisco

I have a confession to make:

I’ve been coveting our San Francisco images.

If you follow us on Instagram @kellyginn22 & @johntginn (and if you don’t please do) you may have noticed a “slight” obsession with the city by the bay.

I’ll admit it, I was entirely sold even before I got there. I would get strange looks and weird head tilts when my friends would ask “have you ever been?” I would blush and stutter…. “n’ nooooo.” I did so much research, reading, stalking San Francisco blogs, San Francisco twitter and Instagram accounts, I was knowledgeable on just about every little detail a tourist who’d never been there could possibly know.

One of our dreams was to one day spread our wings and shoot a wedding in San Francisco. With a lot of help from our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram friends, that goal was made possible. A GIANT thank you to Oscar, who runs the @NoWrongWaySF Instagram account for sharing our add and enabling Danielle and Phil to find us and actually agree to use our services. (This is just a quick thank you, Oscar, when I post Danielle and Phil’s wedding, I will be much more elegant and creative with my thankfulness.)

Why would I covet these images? Such a silly, strange thing to do.

San Francisco left such a mark on us (no really, so much so, the day we got back from S.F. John booked tickets for our second trip that happened one month later), that I almost just wanted John and I to keep it for ourselves. The images would just be memories for John and I to remember together. I just want to hold on to each and everyone of these images so I never forget how incredible the city by the bay actually is. That’s so selfish, which is why I am making myself blog these images. These images feel like I’m giving pieces of myself away. John feels the same way. Like I’m exposing myself to the virtual world. I started to wonder if I was the only one with such strong feelings about this formidable place, so naturally I took to the internet and look what I found:

John Steinbeck once said “You know what it is, it’s a golden handcuff with the key thrown away.”

And O. Henry said “East is East and West is San Francisco.”

One of my favorite guys, period said ” There is no question this is where I want to live, never has been.” -Robin Williams

Robert Kennedy said “I love this city. If I’m elected, I’ll move the White House to San Francisco.”

And Rudyard Kipling said “San Francisco has only one drawback- tis hard to leave.”  (Personally one of my favorites considering I had a breakdown on the plane ride home the first time we left. I mistakenly sat by the window and looked down and saw the glow of the city. I’m certain that everyone on the plane thought it was my first flight.)

Clearly, I am not the only human who is so passionate about the great city.

If I had to list my favorite thing about the city (and I mean if I could literally only have one favorite) I think it would be the hills and the brightly painted buildings that you can see from anywhere in the city. I was absolutely mesmerized.

John, thank you for keeping true to you vows, and always going on adventures with me. Thank you for letting me cry every time I saw the Golden Gate Bridge, and for taking one million selfies with me.

To all of our friends and family: THANK YOU for being excited for us, for liking all of our Instagram posts, and for putting up with how obnoxious we were on all forms of social media while we were there. We felt the excitement you had for us all the way in San Francisco, and we felt so LOVED. You made it that much more special for us.

I could write all day, but I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

xoxo

The second time we were there, I broke down on the cab ride to the airport. I looked back and could see Bernal Heights. I was so afraid I’d never make it back there and that I’d forget the magic of it all. The poor cab driver kept looking back at me, Lord knows what he was thinking. I could never forget San Francisco. It becomes a part of you.

My favorite quote: “Leaving San Francisco is like saying goodbye to an old sweetheart. You want to linger as long as possible.” -Walter Kronkite

Until next time, you sparkling city by the Bay…

One thing you are probably all asking yourselves is, “Is Red his real name?” haha, No it isn’t, it’s actually Nick.

From the very initial email, sweet Megan always referred to Nick as “the redhead.” I absolutely loved that she called him that. At one point I wasn’t even sure if she had EVER told me his actual name.

Megan was overly enthusiastic (in the best way possible) via emails. After a while, it just kinda felt like I was writing back and forth to an old friend. I remember Megan saying “We don’t have a date, but I KNOW I have to have you as our photographer.” I loved that she was so generous with her compliments, and was super psyched to meet this girl in person. When we were finally able to, we hit it off JUST like I had expected.

We feel so thankful Megan and Red liked us enough to include us in their special day.

Let’s talk about these engagement photos. I promise you, we rescheduled them due to weather like five different times. I began to wonder if we’d ever have clear skies. Luckily, we did catch a window of dryness, and I am SO glad we did, because these are some of our favorite engagements to date.

Megan let me know up front, several times that she was nervous, and afraid she and Nick would be awkward in these photos. I rolled my eyes (as I sit here STILL rolling my eyes) because they OWNED this session, like it was their day job.

I’m a tiny bit obsessed with Megan, oops I said it. She has this whole Jessica Biel feel to her, totally free-spirited, and absolutely stunning, am I right or am I right?

Megan and Nick, we simply cannot wait for this November to hurry up and get here!

Enjoy!
