Megan+Conley-A Piperton Field Engagement

Oh goodness, where do I start? This definitely goes down as one of my favorite engagements ever. First of all, Megan and Conley played their parts so well, and the sun was the prettiest I have seen it in months. I felt like a vampire, I had almost forgotten what back lit subjects looked like (nerdy photo talk).

I’ve known Conley for quite sometime. He’s always been this interesting, strong willed, (not to mention just strong in general, I mean look at his arms) God fearing guy, who also loves Taylor Swift (heck yes). He’s also just seemed like this protective individual who has just always had his stuff together. Even at a very young age, while normal teens are treading water trying to figuring out who they are, I am certain Conley knew exactly who he was. I’ve always known good things would come his way. He owns his own small business, has the most adorable Golden Retriever pup, and probably his greatest accomplishment, Megan. I only just met sweet Megan the day of these engagement pictures, but I instantly liked her.

HAIR. I could spend a good 20 minutes or so talking about how extremely perfect her hair is, but I don’t want to bore everyone and I also don’t want to sound like an ultimate creeper. Besides Megan’s flawless hair, I can see how anyone would instantly fall in love with her. She’s kind, and glows from the inside out with happiness. When she and Conley arrived, I kind of gave her the DL on how John and I work. I then asked her what she was expecting out of these photos. Some brides are insanely specific. Sweet Megan just replied ” I really don’t know, that’s why I just wanted you, because I knew you would do them the way I wanted.” I could have just hugged her right there.

So basically, Conley and Megan are a perfect match. He’s strong and solid, she’s sweet and gentle. They also make for incredible models. Some people just ‘get’ what I am saying when I pose them, and they ROCK at it, naturally like Conley and Megan. (Others, not so much.)

Stephanie+Shane-A Heartwood Hall Engagement

Can I just start by saying WE love Stephanie and Shane. Love them. In fact, I’m pretty sure John considered plural marriage for a second when he heard Stephanie spitting out sports statistics, and her all around knowledge of Memphis Tiger Basketball. I saw John go all weak in the knees for a second. Stephanie and Shane love life. Their spirits are highly contagious. Being with them for five minutes can instantly turn your day around. In fact, the day we did these engagement pictures it was FREEZING, but S+S made us totally forget that. I’m pretty sure the four of us laughed our way through the entire session.

Other than attending every Memphis Tiger game, these cuties also love concerts. In fact, a nervous, clammy handed Shane proposed minutes before The Band Perry concert that they were super excited about attending. He just couldn’t wait a second longer, I just love that. Stephanie told me she knew Shane was ‘the one’ very early on in their relationship. Two months after they started dating, Stephanie had to have an emergency surgery, and Shane willingly took off work just to take care of her. I could totally see the stars in Stephanie’s eyes when Shane would make her laugh. It’s no wonder Stephanie described Shane as ‘Superman’ when I asked her to choose one word that described him. I love that it’s so simple for them to just be together. It’s effortless for them. When they aren’t cheering for the Tigers, or singing Taylor Swift out loud (haha) you can find S+S just out and about playing with their two dogs, Oakley and Alice. (Dog lovers unite.)

So in a nut shell, Stephanie and Shane are the bees knees, the real deal, and all that jazz. We absolutely cannot wait for their wedding, this coming June at Heartwood Hall.

Cally+Mitchell- A Birmingham Ranch Wedding

It’s a small, small world. I can’t say that enough.

Remember these cute kids? We were fortunate enough to have a connection with Cally and Mitchell thanks to one of our sweet sweet couples Caitlyn and Zach, whose wedding we shot last May. Cally is Zach’s cousin. I remember when she messaged me last year, she asked if John and I would be willing to travel to Birmingham, Alabama to document she and Mitchell’s big day. We were flattered she even considered asking us.

We couldn’t have custom ordered better weather for March in Birmingham. It was absolutely gorgeous. Cally and Mitchell said ‘I do’ at one of Birmingham’s finest, Rancho de las Aguilas which had a breathtaking mountain view. I have to take a minute to commend Cally, and all involved for what an amazing job they did decorating. Cally (and her entourage) designed their own flowers, bouquets, all centerpieces, nicknacks, and so much more. She did a fantastic job, and I’m sure she now agrees that all of her hard work certainly paid off. We love when our couple’s weddings mirror who they are, and I think it SCREAMED Cally and Mitchell.

When John and I think back on their special day, one of the most memorable moments our mind goes back to is when Cally walked down the aisle to a melody of Taylor Swift’s ‘Begin Again.’ It was one of the most gorgeous melodies I have ever heard. A girl after my own heart, why oh why did I not think to do that?!?

I don’t want to get TOO wordy, after all, we’re all here for the same reason, THE GOODS, so I’ll get to it.

P.S. A HUGE HUGE thanks to John Ginn for shooting the whole day with me, and doing both of our jobs when I couldn’t talk. (Mouth surgery problems)

Ashley Durham- Just Because

Lucky for me, God allowed my path to cross with Ashley’s.

You may recognize this exquisite young lady for many reasons; Free People magazines, Tony Bowls advertisements, billboards, oh and the Miss America 2011 competition where she represented Tennessee, just to name a very few. I could go on and on and on, literally.

When I think about Ashley, those amazing achievements aren’t my ‘go to’ memories. Don’t get me wrong, she’s accomplished more in her 23 years than most will ever in a lifetime, but sweet Ashley wonderful for so many reasons. When I think about Ashley, I think about the girl who would tackle me when I’d see her at a sorority event, or the girl who would text us daily devotionals (to this day, I’m still part of her email devotionals), I think about the girl who constantly includes John and I (as in a team) to tag along on any Memphis adventure she may take part in. I think about the down to earth, sports loving, bare foot runnin’, free spirit, loyal sister of mine. I think about the sweet girl that checks in and cares enough to genuinely ask “How are you doing?” So in case you can’t tell, we are VERY fond of Ashley Durham in the Ginn family. She can do no wrong.

I’ve had the opportunity to shoot with Ashley before, and she’s always been extremely supportive and nurturing with my career. Luckily Ashley agreed to join me on another test shoot, one year later. We actually shot these last September, I know, I know. That was six months ago, but better late than never, right?

We teamed up with some of our favorite vendors, and we really REALLY love how these turned out.

Hilary+Cliff-A Delectable Day Wedding

You may remember Hilary and Cliff from their Autumn Huntsville engagement session. As we drove home from Huntsville, I remember John and I talking about how our favorite thing about Hilary and Cliff (because let’s be honest, we could write a book on all the reasons we love them) is how natural they are together. Their love is effortless, easy, and admirable. We knew documenting their special day would be fun, simple, and light, and boy were we spot on.

Hilary is one of the most amazing girls I’ve ever met. She’s spunky, (I mean look at her cocktail wedding dress) fun, intelligent, witty, genuine, loving, and downright beautiful. Her heart totally matches her appearance. Seconds before Hilary and Cliff drove off from their reception, she yelled out the window “Thank you Kelly, you guys are awesome!” Most brides get so caught up in the moment (understandably so) but not Hilary, she’s too intentional. Cliff, Cliff is ALL kinds of awesome and compliments Hilary so well. He’s sweet, solemn, calm, gentle, and boy does he love sweet little Hilary.

Hilary and Cliff had a gorgeous day wedding at Hilary’s childhood church, St. Therese Little Flower. Its dreamy gothic-ish stained glass windows made for an impeccable backdrop for photos. We arrived a little before 8 a.m. and began shooting details. A few moments later, sweet Hilary arrived looking as calm as ever and she greeted both of us with a hug. I had previously met Hilary’s father, and adorable (and just as spunky) sister Jamie, and already loved her! John and I fell in love with Hilary’s entire family. Her brother, Timothy, totally deserves a shout out for simply being fabulous. He pinned basically every boutonniere on every member of the wedding party (something you’d think John and I would have mastered by now, but sadly haven’t). During the reception, as I was documenting Hilary’s thoughtful decorations, Hilary’s mom, Kelly, came over and thanked John and I and gave us some of the sweetest compliments. The entire family made us feel like so much more than just wedding vendors, and our hearts are so thankful for that.

Before I get all hippie-dippie on you guys, I’ll get to the goods!

Hilary and Cliff, if you’re reading this from Disney, know that John and I are jealous, but hope that you two are having a well deserved blast! We love you to pieces!

We were lucky enough to get to work with the best florist in Memphis, Lynn Doyle Flowers. Thane and his crew drove in exactly at the same time as us, and boy do they know how to be efficient!
