You didn’t honestly think I’d let this year roll on without posting our San Francisco wedding, did you?
I feel like I need to preface this post by simply saying Thank you.
Thank you to any/every single person who shared our SF giveaway post. Thank you for praying and believing in us. I can’t tell you how many people reached out to us saying “We know you can do this! When you want something, you always make it happen.” To those people, we love you. Thank you to every single person who followed our San Francisco adventures on Instagram, and then cheered us along. Thank you to every single person who sees anything SF related, and sends me a picture of it. The fact that you associate such an inspiring place to ME makes my heart happy. Thank you for dealing with all of our SF #tbt, because they are our FAVORITE memories.
An enormous THANK YOU to Oscar from No Wrong Way to Love San Francisco. This man is 99% the reason shooting a wedding in San Francisco was even possible. Oscar, one day we will find a way to repay you for allowing us to reach this goal. I promise. When we came up with the idea in August of 2013, we didn’t know a soul in the city. Not one person. We did research and found the No Wrong Way SF instagram account. We reached out to them, told them our mission, and they were kind enough to share our add. From there, two lovely couples inquired with us. One of those couples was Danielle and Phil.
The same giant thank you is extended to these beautiful people.
Danielle and Phil are THE most generous people on God’s green earth. I mean that. Even before we’d ever met, Danielle mailed us a gorgeous San Francisco print in the mail. When Danielle initially reached out to me, I loved her heart. She told me briefly about her and Phil’s unique love story. How she moved clear across the country, taking one of the most giant risks of her life, all to give love a chance. Looking back, I know Danielle is thankful for taking such a risk, because look where it lead her, to Phil.
These two cross country lovers have suitcase shaped hearts. Phil even proposed in front of the Eiffel Tower! It just doesn’t get more romantic than that, folks. These two adventurers honeymooned in Singapore, the Maldives, and Bali. Another love and passion of the Campits is the city itself, San Francisco. They were extremely kind and selfless enough to give us a tour the day before their ceremony. Where most bride and grooms are doing one million last minute things before their big day, Phil and Daniele were having organic pastries with us at Tartine, showering us with gifts, taking photos with and OF us at Dolores Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of Fine Arts, etc. Like I said “THE most generous people on the planet.”
On the actual wedding day, we were in for SUCH a treat. Danielle and Phil got ready at the Hyatt on Embarcadero, which is also where their first look happened. From there, Danielle arranged for a driver so she and Phil + their gorgeous bridal party could explore the city for formal portraits. Our first stop was the world famous City Lights Bookstore. This particular bookstore is the oldest in the city. It was founded in 1953 by the famous poet, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and now is an attraction for people all over the world. Its intimate and casual charm is totally what people see in City Lights. Phil surprised Danielle once by taking her there on a date, so it was so appropriate to take photos there. Next to City Lights is a bar called Vesuvio. We were doing great on time, so Danielle, Phil, and their bridal party (Jason and Kara who are pretty freaking awesome) hopped in for an Anchor Steam. We then headed over to the Golden Gate. I love how nonchalantly I throw that noun around, like I go there every day. Inside, you all know I was screaming. Hello, I now have wedding photos with the Golden Gate in the background in my portfolio. Thank you, Jesus!After The Golden Gate, we had time on our hands, so Phil and Danielle decided to head over to Buena Vista Cafe for an Irish Coffee. These people know how to make the real thing. If you ever get to go, ask for Larry (as pictured below) he may even do a magic trick for you! Finally we headed to Pier 7 (talk about an amazing view) for family photos.
Danielle and Phil’s family were so incredible. They were so kind and so supportive. No wonder they have such amazing children?! (You guys should be SO proud of them.)
When we finally finished with family portraits, it was time for the ceremony. We took pedicabs over to Cupid’s Span. The ceremony was beautiful, intimate, casual, and full of love. In lieu of a unity candle, or sand ceremony, Danielle and Phil pulled unknown destinations out of a jar that were chosen by the two of them, and their bridal party. What ever location they pulled was where they would go on future anniversaries! It was so appropriate for their travel loving hearts. The wedding guests threw rice paper flowers as Danielle and Phil were announced husband and wife. Immediately following the ceremony, Danielle and Phil had a cablecar waiting to show their guests the best of San Francisco. I honestly feel like this was the highlight of the day. Danielle and Phil had wedding guests from all over the U.S. and what better way to honor them, then giving them a tour on a CABLECAR?!?! At one point I remember thinking “How on earth is this happening to me?!” The cablecar drove to the Palace of Fine Arts, Fisherman’s wharf, and Chrissy Field. You will notice a “bush man” (what locals call THE bush man) in a photo below. Basically, he hides behind bushes and scares tourists. It was pretty amusing, I must say! The cablecar tour ended at Epic Roasthouse, which is where the reception was held. It was one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten.
The reception was intimate, outdoor overlooking the Bay Bridge. The food and decor was exquisite. You’ll notice LOVELY calligraphy from Accrewed Design and an alternative guestbook Phil’s dad made out of wood, a chain link fence material, and a padlock/key, to resemble the Ponts du arts Bridge in Paris. Every detail was planned and intentional, even the suitcase shaped cake. Everything just screamed Danielle and Phil, and we love that they planned a wedding that mirrored the amazing couple they are.
I’ve gone on and on, and I know I need to get to the goods. After all, they definitely speak for themselves.
