I am SO incredibly excited to share this post.

Meet Nathalia and Gene.

My Urban Outfitter catalog models. No, not really, but I mean, I could have said so and no one would have even questioned it because they are just SO good looking. Amen?

When Nathalia initially emailed me, I recognized her name. I remembered we went to the same high school, and that she was a year older than me. I also remember her being beautiful (definitely still is) with big brown eyes and olive skin. She asked to meet up at our favorite place, Saucer. John and I were already freakishly giddy because 1. Look at this good looking couple, and 2. We LOVE Saucer and were thrilled that Nathalia suggested it.

After dinner John and I left the restaurant with our fingers crossed. We really felt like we had a connection with Nathalia and Gene, and lucky for us, they felt the same way!

We simply cannot wait to shoot their wedding this March at Heartwood Hall.

After going to dinner a couple of times with this adorable couple, we’ve become good friends. We’re so thankful for a job that allows us to be surrounded by interesting, intelligent people. How blessed are we? Nathalia and Gene weren’t positive that they wanted to do engagements, since they had already sent out save the dates (which by the way, were Super Hero themed) but John and I convinced them otherwise, and I’m so glad they listened, because we absolutely LOVE these!

Because of Nathalia and Gene’s artistic edgy ‘look‘ I knew the most perfect place. There is an awesome midtown mural/graffiti wall that just screams Nathalia and Gene. Luckily they agreed.

Nathalia and Gene, it should be illegal to be so good looking, and then you two go off and decided to get married, and we’re just sitting over here like “their kids are going to look like the Cullens, only more tan.” Haha!

We hope you enjoy these!

Nathalia is stunning.

You may remember these cuties, but if not, it’s only because I shot their engagements over a year ago. Don’t worry, they’re just adorable as ever!

I went to high school with Lauren, and although she was a year ahead of me, I always admired her. She was obviously stunning, smart, athletic, and artistic (basically a complete package.) When she asked me to shoot her engagements, I was simply thrilled. I never thought she’d ask ME to shoot her wedding, but I am oh so glad she did, because I absolutely loved it.

Lauren and Anthony got married at Cedar Hall in Bartlett, Tennessee. At the time, it had only been open to the public for about a month, so we were honored to be some of the first photographers to shoot at such an incredible venue. Cedar Hall is actually on the list of National Historic Places, and I can honestly say it should be. It is absolutely gorgeous. When John and I arrived, we were extremely overwhelmed in the best way possible. It was dripping in crystal chandeliers, colonial wall tapestries, and a picturesque wooden  staircase that will make you gasp out loud. Cedar Hall’s antebellum architecture is in pristine condition, and simply screams photo op. It is easily one of our favorite venues in Memphis.

(Side note: I wouldn’t have HALF of the lovely images below if it weren’t for the best shooter on the planet, John Ginn)

This wedding has been a long time coming for Lauren and Anthony, and we are so thankful they allowed US to take part in chapter one of their story. L+A decided to have a first look together, before the ceremony. Doing so allowed both Lauren and Anthony to take full advantage of Cedar Hall’s stunning grounds, fountains, gardens, etc. I loved that their first look allowed them to be calm and enjoy their special day. Both Lauren and Anthony were absolute gems to work with. We adore them from the bottom of our hearts. Both John and I love the connections we have with our bride and grooms. We aren’t shooting our clients wedding, we are shooting our friends wedding. A couple of weeks ago, Lauren surprised John and I with a handcrafted gift for our home with our wedding date on it. Our couples are beyond thoughtful. I was so thankful that she put thought into a gift for us.

Speaking of being crafty, Lauren designed her own invitations, programs, etc. I’ve highly encouraged her to make and sell these to other brides, because she is so very talented. If you see her, bug her about it for me!

Lauren and Anthony, you guys are absolutely perfect for each other. The connection you two have is other worldly. Hold on to that.

Enjoy.

Remember these guys? Over a year ago, I shot engagements for Megan and Cody. John and I didn’t know them, but instantly got along with them. We had a blast downtown and loved the energy they both brought to the table. After we delivered their engagement photos, we thought we’d never hear from the sweet couple again, because M&C had already informed us that they were getting married in the Dominican Republic. She told us the would be staying at Now Larimar Resort, an all inclusive resort that even came with wedding Photographers. We wished them well, but couldn’t help but wish it was US documenting their special day. One day we received an email from Megan informing us that she and Cody wanted US to go with them to the Dominican. We danced, jumped up and down, and high-fived each other. We obviously agreed, and we’re SO glad we did, because Megan and Cody are dear to our hearts. We knew NOTHING about the Dominican, but instantly did research. We had to get our passports updated, but it was hard to keep the secret to ourselves. When it got closer to time, we finally shouted the news from every rooftop in town.

When we finally arrived to our resort, we gasped. The Dominican has some of the most breathtaking views we’ve ever seen. The white sandy beaches, and turquoise calm waters stretched as far as we could see. The Dominican people are so polite and helpful, they made sure we always had what we needed.  The tropical climate was like a gift to us because we left Memphis in 40 degree weather. We traded our scarves for flip flops and we were ok with that!

We had never met Megan or Cody’s parents, but Megan’s mom, Mrs. Marty was one of the first people to welcome us with open arms. She was entirely too sweet, she made John and I feel like we were HER children, and we love her for that. John and I got to talk with some of Megan and Cody’s bridal party, and we all came to the conclusion that Megan and Cody are some of the most giving, generous people ever. They are selfless and always want what’s best for their loved ones. We felt blessed to spend the entire five days with them.

We sat down at their rehearsal dinner, and heard multiple friends/family speak sweet words about the happy couple. It was so encouraging to hear all of these strangers (to us) say such beautiful things about Megan and Cody. We agreed with all of it. There isn’t another Megan and Cody, I know that for sure. This couple deserves each other, and we are so thankful their path’s crossed.

Megan and Cody, and the Greenhalgh/Finks family, thank you for allowing us to tag along on the most special day of your life. We hope these images bring you back to the magic of it all.

Enjoy!

The fog machine made for such an etherial look!

Poor Cody!

Sad the beach was too windy for these floating lanterns to work, we had fun trying!

So then Megan and Cody got in!

How dreamy?

Congrats, you guys!

This gives the phrase “a hole in the wall” an entire new meaning for me.

Meet Brynn and Luke, an absolutely adorable couple!

When Brynn emailed me to set up a meeting, she mentioned that a lot of her friends had worked with me. I noticed we had TONS of friends in common, but didn’t think anything of it. As John and I were waiting for Brynn and her lovely entourage to arrive I figured I should probably try to find her on FB to be able to recognize her when she walked in. I then noticed that all of the friends we had in common were all in my sorority. Long story short, Brynn and I were members of the same sorority. How funny. We both obviously have great taste. =] But really, Brynn is a peach. Just a doll!

We were able to meet both Brynn and Luke with both of Brynn’s precious parents. We know exactly why Brynn is an absolute sweetheart now! John and I are thrilled to be documenting Brynn and Luke’s big day this July at the lovely Cedar Hall. As I was trying to get to know B+L, I asked them both what they did. Brynn is an educator and Luke is a police officer. This is my second couple this year that have the same professions. I guess it’s safe to say, I have admirable couples. I love that about them.

When I asked Luke how he proposed, I wasn’t ready for this epicness.

All in unison “awwwwweeeeeeee”

Obviously we are extremely partial, because we too have a Golden Retriever, but how precious is this?

Guys, if you are EVER planning on proposing, and you’re honestly not sure if your significant other will say yes, just get them a fluffy golden, that will seal the deal FOR SURE.

I told Luke that John probably would have said ‘yes’ had he waved precious Louie in his face. Haha!

Brynn and Luke wanted to include both of their precious ‘fur children’ in their engagement session, so you will see several of Louie and Lola sprinkled throughout this post. We started out at Cedar Hall, where B+L will say “I do” in eight short months. I cannot say enough amazing things about such an outstanding venue. It’s just plain lovely from the top to the bottom. I highly recommend it to anyone searching for a venue. We then headed to Arlington Town Square where both pups could join in, and where we were then introduced to Luke’s parents. They are JUST as sweet as Brynn’s family, so together they have one big sweet, happy family.

Brynn and Luke, you guys are beyond perfect for each other. We hope you enjoy these as much as we did!

I have so many of Brynn laughing at Luke. The couple that laughs together, stays together!

See what I mean?

…..

Cedar Hall is beyond lovely.

Meet Louie and Lola!

I can’t even.

I love this!

Did I mention Brynn is also a supermodel? No? Well, I should have.

We can’t wait for July!

You may remember Jessica and Daniel from their modern twist in the woods engagement session. To this day, I still have inquiries wondering if I can bring “the grey couch along” for their particular session. Imagine their disappointment when I tell them I don’t own the couch, Jessica and Daniel do. HAHA! I met Jessica and Daniel over a year ago. At the time, I had no clue they were dating, but when I finally saw them holding hands, I kind of had a ‘duhhhhh’ moment. I mean, let’s face it… They are absolutely perfect for each other. So trendy, adorable, and they both have GIANT giving hearts. I love that about them both.

John and I were SMITTEN when Daniel and Jessica picked US to shoot their special day. When Jessica told me her wedding was on October 5th, I almost forgot that the 5th is my birthday! I was so excited that she asked me to shoot her wedding, that my birthday seemed less important than such an honor. I can’t say that I would work on my birthday for just ‘anyone’ but J+D, um hello, no brainer! PLUS, what better way than to celebrate with people on the happiest day of their lives!

The morning of the 5th, I received a phone call from Jessica. It was only about 9:30, so I was a little concerned about what on earth she could be needing? I picked up the phone and said “Hi Jessica!” a voice said, “Hey Kelly, this is Gretchen, one of Jessica’s bridesmaids, I have some bad news.” My heart literally stopped beating, because I imagined the worse possible thing. Gretchen said the venue that Jessica and Daniel were getting married at tragically burnt to the ground early that morning. I gasped. I immediately let out a sigh of relief because I was afraid I was going to be told someone was hurt, but still couldn’t imagine how upset Jessica was. Gretchen told me that they were working on another venue and they would keep me updated. All I could say is “Bless her heart.” I just couldn’t even imagine the devastation both Jessica and Daniel were experiencing. Luckily, the venue was a barn, and ALL of the horses made it out alive (something I wasn’t going to ask, because I was afraid of the answer.)

When I finally heard that J+D were going to continue on with their day, and press forward, my heart immediately felt better. Some people would have laid down and died, threw in the towel, and gave up. Not Jessica and Daniel. They knew it was God’s will to for the two of them to join lives, and switching venues wasn’t going to stop them. I was glad to hear that Jessica’s dress was NOT in the venue, although I would have given her the shirt off of my back had she needed it. Unfortunately her decorations were in the barn, but we made do without those.

Jessica and Daniel ended up getting married at Hope Presbyterian Church, where Daniel is a worship leader. When I arrived I heard someone say “Kelly!” Around the bushes came smiling Jessica. I hugged her and wanted to cry for her, but decided to try and stay strong. She had the highest spirits the entire day, and never let anything get her down. While Jessica and Daniel were getting ready the Hope community was ensuring that J+D would have the perfect day they deserved. I walked down to the sanctuary and gasped. I saw dozens of people vacuuming, moving props, watering plants, building arches, setting out chairs, organizing, etc (the list goes on and on and on). It was inevitable. Despite the yucky forecasted weather conditions and terrible venue tragedy, Jessica and Daniel’s day would go on. With a lot of love, good friends, and a WHOLE lot of Hope, Jessica and Daniel pulled their day off. I overheard Jessica say “It blows my mind that I planned this wedding for months, and it’s all being pulled together in one day.” It made me laugh, but it also made me realize what was really important.

John and I were able to work with our favorite Videographers, Jimmy and Toni from VMWeddings Studio. Toni was nice enough to remember my birthday, and even brought both John and I a cupcake.

A HUGE THANK YOU to John for taking some AMAZING images that you will see below. I cannot stress how amazing it is to have both a boy and a girl’s perspective on your wedding day. His creativity blows my mind. He does things I would never think of, and I’m the one with the art degree!

It was beyond encouraging to see how both J+D handled the unfortunate event that took place the morning of their wedding. In a way, I feel like I was supposed to take part in their day, and learn from these two incredible souls.

We are thankful for you both.

Enjoy!

I nearly squealed when I opened J+D’s gorgeous wedding invitation set!

Daniel gave all of his groomsmen skinny polkadot ties.

You may recognize both Loye and Claire, they have been in a couple of weddings that I’ve shot, and are dear friends/sorority sisters of mine! They’ve been best friends forever, and I love how much they laugh when they’re together.

I have shot ALL three of these beautiful girl’s weddings. What an honor!

Daniel was dressed to kill.

Jessica sewed this into Daniel’s jacket. I love her thoughtfulness.

Just moments before Jessica saw Daniel, she was literally glowing.

Before Daniel let Jessica take his blindfold off, he wanted to reassure her that everything was going to be ok, and that he loved her more than he ever had. I know she appreciated such comforting words after an eventful morning.

My favorite moment.

This ivy wall at Hope Pres was such a dreamy backdrop!

John Ginn shoots amazing stuff!

When Jessica said she was sweating, Daniel naturally waved his jacket to give a breeze.

How could I not post this? Jessica and Daniel are gorgeous, trendy, and creative, but let’s be honest. This is them all day, everyday.

Brides, flower crowns are so in. Jessica looked flawless with her simple flower crown! I wish so much that I too would have worn one!

Gretchen’s bangs make me so jealous.

I can always count on Loye to make everyone laugh!

Daniel and his groomsmen are all great friends. They like to laugh and do silly things. John and I cried we laughed so hard. Needless to say, we were very entertained

Hello awesome mustache.

While Daniel can be serious, and dramatic for pictures, he can’t help but also be himself. Per the groom’s request.

John had to walk away, he was laughing so hard. Another Daniel request.

During the ceremony, they had a mini worship, Daniel did his best to get the crowd involved.

Then, Jessica and Daniel’s family joined them to pray.

It’s not a wedding if Daniel doesn’t get on someone’s shoulders.

Another one of my past couples! Love Caitlyn and Zach!

Jessica and Daniel has a professional line dancer at their reception!

And if you aren’t tall enough, just grab a chair.

Our hearts are soaring.
